Anime Expo 2009

As you may have guessed from my past few recently uploaded deviations, I've been at Anime Expo the past few days. Twas pretty sweet, I guess, but it's good to be back home.

Not much to say, other than that I got to meet the cast of There Will Be Brawl, got a bunch of awesome cosplay pics [link] (including some of Chef Kratos, Captain Falcon and Captain Fabulous, and even a really fucking awesome Starcraft Ghost!), and bought an airsoft MP40.

Also, hot diggitty dog, I'm on the internet: [link]

Homeworld

Having recently reformatted my PC, I found myself in a dire need for simulated combat of some form; I'd just beat Metroid Prime 3 and was in no mood to punish myself with Hypermode difficulty, and I discovered that my copies of the Dawn of War games were all missing, presumably at my friend's house. I didn't so much as think of playing any of my several C&C games, as I'd completely burned myself out on that last summer. Doom 3 was just a ridiculous game, and my internet connection is too lousy to play BF2 properly.

That's when I chanced upon the familiar violet, ringed disk, something I hadn't seen in ages. I popped in the CD and installed that fucker, and relieved the old familiar pixelated space combat I'd grown so fond of years back, choosing to start a campaign as the Kushan, given a color scheme similar to the Third Reich, and, to my great pleasure, found that the game hadn't aged at all; sure, the models were textured with pixels the size of dinnerplates, and particle effects had only recently been invented at the time of this game's making, yet I found zooming in on an Interceptor just as its squadron opens fire on a hapless bomber to be just as satisfying as if it were rendered with modern technology.

Anyone else remember this game?

Oh, and fuck that asteroid mission. Fuck it with a stick.

German War Movies

Does anyone know of any war movies in German that aren't Das Boot or Der Untergang?

We need to watch some movies in German for extra credit in my German language class, so yeah.
